Magpie is an open-source Go tool that lists the AI coding agents on a machine, shows the model each one is set to, and lets you change it from one screen. It runs as a menu bar app, a regular window, a terminal UI (magpie tui), a browser page (magpie web), and a plain CLI. The README names agents including Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, OpenCode, Pi, Goose, Cursor CLI, Copilot CLI, Crush, Zed, VS Code Chat, Kimi Code, Hermes Agent, and Grok Build; only installed or configured agents are shown. It edits each agent's own config file, changing only the key you set and keeping comments and ordering, with atomic writes. A local gateway at 127.0.0.1:3425 serves OpenAI chat completions, OpenAI Responses, Anthropic Messages, and a Gemini-style endpoint, forwarding to the vendor that serves a model and translating between APIs, streaming and tool calls included, so Codex can run on DeepSeek or Claude Code on Kimi. Providers are added from presets such as Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, DeepSeek, Kimi, GLM, MiniMax, Qwen, Mistral, Groq, xAI, OpenRouter, Ollama, and LM Studio, or as custom base URLs. The README says magpie never reads keys from shell environment variables, and provider keys are kept in ~/.config/magpie/providers.json with 0600 permissions. Signed-in Claude Code, Codex, and Copilot accounts can be offered as providers to other agents. Other features include routing groups, per-model price overrides with a usage ledger, gateway keys with token or cost limits for sharing the gateway on a local network, profiles, encrypted backups, WebDAV and S3 sync, and optional OTLP export, which is off by default. It ships for macOS, Windows, and Linux, with a Docker image for headless use; Windows and Linux builds are not signed yet, while macOS releases are signed and notarised. Install with the curl script from usemagpie.ai or go install. A running magpie sends one anonymous event per day to PostHog (random id, version, OS and architecture), which can be disabled in Settings or with DO_NOT_TRACK=1 or MAGPIE_NO_STATS=1. MIT licensed.
